On March 10th the Bishop Kenny Campus Ministry hosted its fourth Kairos retreat at the beautiful Marywood Retreat and Conference Center in Camp St. John.
Kairos means 'God's time'; Kairos retreat weekend provides its junior and senior participants an opportunity to separate themselves from their own daily distractions and to instead focus on connections with their faith life on 'God's time'.
Campus Ministry’s fourth Kairos retreat filled up quickly, hosting 45 juniors and seniors plus fifteen student leaders. The weekend consisted of delicious food provided and prepared by parent volunteers, BK faculty and BK service clubs. Participants spent time in prayer, with classmates, and participating in other opportunities unique to a Kairos weekend.
The retreats have quickly become popular opportunities for spiritual growth and the students look forward to participating. "Kairos has greatly impacted my life. I have never been an open person, but with the help of the amazing leaders, I was able to overcome my fear. I no longer believe I am alone because I can count on my Kairos family" said one student participant.
Retreats are facilitated by campus minister Alex Maples. “We are always looking for people to get involved with the various ministries needed to make the retreat run such as cooking a meal, joining the leadership team, or supporting students who cannot afford the weekend by making financial donations. This retreat has been a great blessing to our students and is a wonderful way for the Bishop Kenny community to come together in our faith tradition”.
