Ava Larson & Abby Milkes: Gator Bowl Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Bishop Kenny seniors Ava Larson ’23 and Abby Milkes ’23 for receiving the Gator Bowl Charities Award of Excellence Scholarship.  Four senior student-athletes were selected, each receiving a one-time gift of $2,500 for use at any accredited University or College.  Students are selected based on their scholastic record, community service, sports participation, leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities, and a written essay.

Larson is a dedicated student athlete, focusing her time on academics, soccer, and community service.  She is an AP scholar with distinction and a member of the English, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa, Science, Spanish, and National Honor Societies.  She is also a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Interact, History, Science, and Spanish Clubs.  Larson enjoys spending time giving back to others through community service, and she is a member of the BK Student Ambassadors and an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion.  Larson would like to attend the University of Florida majoring in English so that she can attend law school in the future.

Milkes is also a dedicated student athlete, focusing her time on academics, athletics, and community service.  She is a member of the cross-country and track & field teams at BK.  She is an AP Scholar and the editor and chief of The Shield newspaper, and a member of the English, Mu Alpha Theta, Quill & Scroll, Rho Kappa, Science, Spanish, and National Honor Societies.  She is also a member of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Interact, History, Science, and Spanish Clubs.  Milkes is also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the BK Student Ambassadors and an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion.  She enjoys volunteering at Holy Family Catholic school and church in the gift shop and with vacation bible school in the summers.  Milkes would like to attend the University of South Carolina or Florida State University majoring in Public Relations and Journalism.
