Boys' Swim Team Captures Fourth FHSAA Class 2A State Title in Five Years

The Bishop Kenny boys swim team recaptured its dominance, winning the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 2A State Championship on November 7 in Ocala. The victory marks the Crusaders’ fourth state title in five years, adding to their championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Bishop Kenny finished with 244.5 points, pulling ahead of Belen Jesuit (217) and Mater Lakes Academy (201) to reclaim the top spot in Class 2A.

Congratulations to Carter Wright, who is committed to the University of Alabama, for his individual victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Since his first state appearance in 2022, Wright has earned five individual state titles, six relay titles, and three team championships, making him one of the most decorated swimmers in school history.

Head Coach Laurel Valley ’98 expressed pride in both her boys’ and girls’ teams, noting the program’s sustained excellence. “It takes an incredible amount of teamwork and discipline to reach these heights,” Valley said. “I’m so proud of what our athletes have accomplished together.”
