February Students of the Month: Rafaela Ramirez and Steven Perez

Bishop Kenny High School is proud to recognize seniors Rafaela Ramirez and Steven Perez as our February Students of the Month. Selected for their strong character, respect for others, and unwavering integrity, both students exemplify what it means to lead with purpose—academically, spiritually, and through service.

Rafaela Ramirez is a highly involved and compassionate leader on campus. She serves as co-president of Campus Ministry Club and is an active member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Spanish Clubs. Deeply rooted in her faith, Rafaela is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was recently honored with the Christus Vivit National Youth Christian Service Award. She also volunteers extensively with Camp I Am Special, Vacation Bible School, and Catholic Charities. A dedicated scholar, she belongs to the English, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa, Science, Spanish, and National Honor Societies.

As a member of both the Cross Country and Track teams, Rafaela has built strong relationships while developing discipline and perseverance. She aspires to attend the University of Florida as a finance major, with the goal of attending law school. “You must value integrity to make your contributions meaningful in life,” Rafaela shares. “As the President of the Campus Ministry club I try to promote these values remembering that we are all children of God.”

Steven Perez is a motivated and dependable student leader who balances academics, athletics, and service. He is involved in the BK Ambassadors and Spanish Clubs and serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Steven is also active in the Boy Scouts of America, where he continues to build leadership skills and community values. He is a member of the English, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish, and National Honor Societies.

A varsity athlete, Steven was a member of the 2025 state runner-up Cross Country team and one of the team captains. He is also a member of the varsity Track team. He hopes to enroll at the University of Florida and pursue a degree in computer engineering. Reflecting on his leadership, Steven says, “Character, respect, and integrity are built through running for me. As a team captain it is important for me to model those attributes to earn the respect of my teammates and for me to respect them in turn. I like to watch the developmental improvement of our team—through growth comes strength, which benefits us all.”
