May Student of the Month: John Cratem
Congratulations to Senior John Cratem Bishop Kenny’s May Student of the Month. John was selected for Best All-Around, Perseverance and Motivation. John is a standout Crusader student, varsity athlete, and embodies the values of our Catholic faith. John said, “This year has been difficult for me regarding cross country and track because I haven’t been performing well at meets. I just had my first personal best time in over a year, running the mile in 4:53s. I never gave up and am finally feeling that slight taste of success.”
John has a rigorous academic schedule and is also very involved in extra-curricular activities. He puts his faith into action through participation in Campus Ministry as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist, altar serving at BK Masses and accumulating almost 300 service hours through his senior year. He is a two-sport athlete, running in the fall with the cross-country team and in the spring with the track & field team. John is a member of the National Honor Society and the English, Science, Latin, Rho Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta Honor Societies. He was a member of the Joe Berg Science Seminar Series and chaplain of both the S.t Vincent de Paul Society and the NHS.
John connected the Motivation aspect to his senior schedule stating, “I have a very challenging schedule this year taking six AP classes which has helped keep me motivated and focused on time management.” He will attend the University of Florida in the Fall and will major in Civil Engineering. He would like to pursue a master’s degree in structural engineering with the goal of owning his own engineering firm to become a premiere builder in Florida.
