Bishop Kenny High School is proud to announce Owen Kerkezi and Lola Goodwin as the October Students of the Month for Most School Spirit. These students have shown exceptional enthusiasm, leadership skills, and academic dedication, setting them apart as role models within our school community.
Owen Kerkezi, a four-year member of the varsity swim team and three-time state champion, has demonstrated a commitment to excellence both in the pool and in the classroom. As a team captain, Owen has taken on a mentorship role, guiding younger swimmers and encouraging them to push for greatness. Owen shared, “I love BK swimming, and being one of the team captains allows me the opportunity to mentor the freshmen and sophomores. I want them to strive to be the best and win a fourth state title.” With his sights set on attending Florida Atlantic University, Owen hopes to continue his swimming career at the collegiate level.
Lola Goodwin is an equally inspiring presence at Bishop Kenny, balancing her academic and extracurricular involvement in athletics and activities. As a member of the history, Interact, and Spanish clubs, Lola is deeply engaged in school life. She is also an active member of the National Honor Society and English Honor Society. On the basketball court, Lola shines as part of the varsity team, where she finds joy in the camaraderie and teamwork. "Playing team sports is something I love, and the girls' basketball team is like a second family," Lola said. Looking to the future, Lola plans to attend a university in Florida and major in biology, with the goal of becoming an orthodontist.
Owen and Lola exemplify what it means to have true school spirit—bringing energy, leadership, and dedication to all they do at Bishop Kenny. We congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition!
