Congratulations to Senior Samantha Nelms, Bishop Kenny’s September Student of the Month. Samantha was selected for Friendship, Kindness, and Humility. Samantha has enjoyed her years as a BK student and makes it a point to be a positive person. She tries to bring a smile to everyone she meets and stated, “I want to grow with my classmates and build those connections with them before we graduate. I do my best in every aspect of my school life because I want to leave my mark on Kenny, because Kenny has helped me grow and helped me to improve myself.”
Samantha puts her faith into action through participation in Campus Ministry as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and Kairos retreats. She is active in her youth group and serves as a lector at Assumption Catholic Church. She also participated in Urban Plunge.
Samantha has a rigorous academic schedule and is also very involved in extra-curricular activities. She is a member of the varsity sideline cheerleading squad and the competitive cheer team. Samantha is the Senior Class Vice President and a member of the English and National Honor Societies. She is involved with the Interact, History, Family, Career & Community Leaders of America, and Spanish clubs.
She gives credit to her mother for always inspiring her to be joyful and greet everyone she meets with a smile. Samantha wants to attend Ave Maria University and major in English or psychology so that she can pursue a career in education. She says she will not rule out a return to Bishop Kenny as a faculty member.
