School Advisory Board

The School Advisory Board (SAB) supports the diocesan superintendent and school principal, and promotes the mission of Bishop Kenny. The board assists the school in achieving its goals to provide an excellent Catholic education to its students. The selected members serve as the voting members of the board.

Nominees to the SAB must have an interest and meet board member expectations:
• Commitment to Catholic school education and its mission
• Expertise in an area of school need
• Willingness to dedicate time in the work of the Board
• Objectivity in making recommendations
• Respectful and collaborative approach to serving

ANTHONY PARETE '81
CHAIR

A lifelong Crusader, Anthony grew up on the Bishop Kenny campus, where his father, legendary Coach Joe Parete, left a lasting legacy. As a student-athlete, he was the starting quarterback for the Crusaders football team and an infielder on the baseball team, competing in two state championship games.

After graduating from Bishop Kenny, Anthony attended Clemson University, where he was a four-year football letterman from 1981 to 1985 and a proud member of the 1981 national championship team. He graduated in 1985 and returned to Jacksonville to begin his professional career.

Anthony is now the President of Pinnacle Roofing Contractors, Inc., a commercial roofing firm based in Jacksonville. He and his wife, Kathy, have been devoted volunteers at Bishop Kenny for over 25 years. Their three children - Megan, Mandi, and Trenton - are all proud BK alumni.

Anthony continues to serve the BK community in numerous roles. He is the current Bishop Kenny School Advisory Board Chairman and President of the BK Boosters. In recognition of his longstanding commitment, the press box at William H. Johnston Stadium was dedicated in his honor in 2014 - a tribute to his legacy as a student-athlete, parent, and steadfast Crusader supporter.

DAVID MAROVICH
VICE CHAIR

David Marovich has built a successful career in banking and finance in Jacksonville, Florida, since 1996. He currently serves as Senior Vice President and Northeast Florida Community President at VyStar Credit Union. Before his role at VyStar, David was the CEO of 121 Financial Credit Union and previously held leadership positions at Compass Bank and Barnett Bank.

In addition to his professional work, David is deeply involved in the Jacksonville community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Ronald McDonald House Charities and Vice Chair of Visit Jacksonville. His past and ongoing service includes the University of North Florida Small Business Development Center (Director, 2016–2019), the Diocese of St. Augustine Savings & Loan Committee (2017–present), and the Bishop Kenny School Board (2012–present).

David earned his B.A. from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. He completed advanced executive education programs through the University of Wisconsin, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and the University of Virginia.

Originally from Johnstown, Pennsylvania, David has called Jacksonville home for decades. He and his wife, Sheila Marovich—Director of Advancement at Bishop Kenny High School—have been married for 34 years and remain strong supporters of the Bishop Kenny community.

DEACON SCOTT CONWAY
 

Deacon Scott Conway serves as the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of St. Augustine, overseeing the spiritual and academic leadership of schools across the region. With a lifelong commitment to Catholic education, Deacon Scott brings decades of experience as an educator, administrator, and faith leader.

Originally from Long Island, he began his formation at the Cathedral Seminary Residence of the Immaculate Conception, studying Philosophy with a minor in Theology. After leaving the seminary, he launched his teaching career, developing a passion for shaping young minds and nurturing faith in educational settings.

Deacon Scott was ordained as a permanent Deacon in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. He now continues his ministry in the Diocese of St. Augustine, serving both the Church and Catholic schools with dedication and compassion.

He is known for his deep commitment to Catholic identity, academic excellence, and service-oriented leadership. His work fosters a faith-filled learning environment that supports students, educators, and families throughout the diocese.

Deacon Scott is married to his wife, Kristen, and together they are proud parents of two children.

JEFF BERNARDO
FINANCE

Jeff Bernardo has over 25 years of investment experience, currently managing Augustine’s global equity, emerging market equity, and fixed-income strategies. Prior to joining Augustine, Jeff held senior roles as a global equities advisor at Trinity Capital, Vice President and senior global equity portfolio manager at J.P. Morgan Asset Management in London, and equity research analyst at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Kidder, Peabody & Co. He also worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co.

Jeff holds a BS in Economics with honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a CFA® charter holder and has served as Past President of the CFA Society Jacksonville. Jeff is also Chairman of the City of Jacksonville Retirement System Board of Trustees, a Director of the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville, a Director of the Sontag Foundation, and a member of the investment committee for the Jacksonville Symphony Association.

Jeff and his wife, Elizabeth, are the proud parents of David Bernardo, a member of the Bishop Kenny Class of 2024.

BYRON ALLMOND
OPERATIONAL VITALITY & FACILITIES


 

Byron Allmond serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Manager for VyStar Credit Union. He joined the Bishop Kenny Advisory Board in the spring of 2021 and has been a dedicated member of the BK community for many years.

Byron is entering his 19th season as an assistant coach with the Bishop Kenny boys’ basketball program. A graduate of Mackin Catholic High School in Washington, D.C., he played alongside former NBA All-Star and current UCF Head Coach Johnny Dawkins on a nationally ranked basketball team.

He continued his basketball career at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he earned recognition as one of the program’s top players. Byron ranks in Loyola’s all-time Top 10 for three-point field goal percentage, rebounds per game, and career steals. He graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

Byron and his wife, Gina, have been proud members of the Bishop Kenny family for decades. All three of their children—Gia (BK ’09), Shaggy (BK ’15), and Dominic (BK ’20)—are Bishop Kenny alumni. Byron remains committed to supporting BK through his service and coaching.

TERRI DAVLANTES '76
FINANCE

Terri Davlantes is a proud Bishop Kenny alumna (Class of 1976 ) whose career reflects a lifelong dedication to service, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Her connection to Bishop Kenny runs deep, as all four of her children graduated from the school.

Terri earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, launching a dynamic career that blended health care, law, and education. She began her professional journey as a nurse before transitioning into health care law. She later served in academic leadership roles, including Vice Dean at Coastal Law and on the senior leadership team at Jacksonville University.

An entrepreneur at heart, Terri founded JAX Cooking Studio to share her love of culinary arts with the community. After selling the successful business in 2024, she entered semi-retirement and now consults with small business owners on operations, compliance, performance metrics, and brand strategy.

Terri is also known for her strong faith and service-oriented mindset. She has served in leadership positions on numerous Catholic, civic, and nonprofit boards, consistently supporting their missions with integrity and purpose.

She and her husband, Tim, enjoy life in Jacksonville and love traveling to visit their children and grandchildren.

KAREN MATHIS
FINANCE

Karen Mathis is the Editor at Large of the Jacksonville Daily Record, the city’s 112-year-old business, government, and legal newspaper. She served as Editor from 2017 to 2024, following seven years as Managing Editor. Karen has played a key role in shaping local journalism and continues to provide editorial leadership for the publication.

Before joining the Daily Record, Karen was Executive Director of Dreams Come True, a Jacksonville nonprofit that fulfills the dreams of children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Her journalism career began at The Florida Times-Union, where she worked from 1978 to 2007 as a reporter, editor, and columnist. During that time, she also anchored and produced a weekly business program for WJCT-TV.

Karen is deeply engaged in the Jacksonville community. She has held leadership roles with the Meninak Club of Jacksonville (President and Trustees Chair), Christ the King School Board (President), Women Business Owners of North Florida, the Civic Council of Jacksonville, and the University of Missouri Northeast Florida Alumni Executive Committee. She is a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville (Class of 1998) and remains active in civic leadership.

A proud Missouri native, Karen holds a degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She and her husband, retired Circuit Court Judge Mack Mathis, have been married for 40 years and have two adult sons—both Bishop Kenny alumni—along with a daughter-in-law who is also a graduate. They recently welcomed their first grandchild.

Karen is an active member and lector at Christ the King and Holy Spirit Catholic Churches.

VINCENT SALADINO '95
FINANCE

Vincent Saladino is the Executive Director of External Affairs at Jacksonville University, leading strategic initiatives focused on economic development and community partnerships. In this role, he connects university departments with government officials, corporate leaders, and developers to support the institution’s research, education, and regional impact goals. Vincent is a key figure in positioning the university as a catalyst for growth in Arlington and a valuable asset to the broader Jacksonville community.

Prior to joining Jacksonville University, Vincent served as Vice Principal of Institutional Advancement at Bishop Kenny High School. He oversaw fundraising, marketing, communications, and capital improvement projects there, playing a vital role in advancing the school’s mission and long-term sustainability.

A proud Bishop Kenny alumnus (Class of 1995), Vincent is also a graduate of the University of North Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton and a Master of Business Administration from Jacksonville University, where he was recognized as a Davis College of Business and Technology Top 40 honoree in 2019.

Vincent is a native of Jacksonville and remains deeply committed to civic engagement and community development. He actively represents Jacksonville University in local initiatives and organizations, continuing his lifelong dedication to education and service.

LESLEY YARBOROUGH '97
ADVANCEMENT & MARKETING
 

Lesley Yarborough is a 1997 Bishop Kenny High School graduate and a dedicated professional with a dynamic background in education, public relations, and communications. She began her college career at the University of Miami, where she studied communications and cheered for the Hurricanes. She later earned a degree in Social Science Education from the University of North Florida.

Lesley spent the early part of her career in education, serving as a first-grade teacher, middle school reading teacher, ESE facilitator, school counselor, and vice principal. In 2012, she graduated with high honors from Saint Leo University with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.

In 2016, Lesley shifted into public relations consulting, quickly establishing a successful track record by supporting winning political campaigns. In 2017, she was appointed Executive Director of the Council of Catholic Academies, where she led efforts to promote Catholic education within the Diocese of St. Augustine.

Lesley is now a co-owner of The Beehive Foundry, a Jacksonville-based marketing firm. She combines her expertise in school administration, public relations, and communication to guide clients in crafting effective messaging strategies. Whether teaching social media masterclasses or consulting for political candidates, Lesley brings clarity and creativity to every project.

She and her husband, Donny, enjoy life in Macclenny, where they cherish time spent with their children and grandchildren in the peaceful countryside.
