Tuition & Financial Assistance

Many courses require a textbook, often in the form of an eBook or online platform, or other course materials. These materials are deployed to students at the start of the school year and incur a separate charge per course, billed via FACTS Financial. The list of materials and cost per course will be included with the student's course list, sent electronically in July. On average, textbooks and course materials range from $300-500, depending on the courses enrolled.

Students in AP courses are required to complete the national AP Exam.  Exam fees are assessed by the College Board and will be billed via FACTS Financial at the end of the first quarter.  Anticipated fees for the 2024-2025 school year are $99 for each AP Exam taken with the exception of AP Capstone courses which are assessed at $147 per course. The College Board does offer fee reductions based on financial need. The Office of School Counseling will share more information with parents of registered AP students at the beginning of the school year.

Bishop Kenny High School provides bus transportation from the Beaches, Arlington, Southside, Mandarin, Saint Johns, Northside, Yulee, and Fernandina Beach. One way transportation is $850 and roundtrip transportation is $1,500 for the school year. For more information about the transportation program, please visit this page. 

All students at Bishop Kenny are required to wear uniforms, which are available for purchase through RC Uniforms. While the prices of specific items vary, a new students can expect to spend between $175 and $300 on new uniforms. Gently-used uniforms are also available through the used-uniform sale each June. 

Athletic team fees average between $150-500 and vary by team.

BK Club fees range from $5-50. 

All financial assistance applications are processed through FACTS Grant & Aid. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is March 31, 2024. Students must be enrolled in order for the financial assistance application to be reviewed.

Step 1: Complete your State Scholarship application/renewal.

All financial assistance applicants must apply for the Step Up for Students or AAA Scholarship and submit the award ID to the business office in order for their application to be considered.

Step 2: Apply for BK financial assistance through FACTS Grant & Aid.

Visit FACTS Grant & Aid to access the application. The application will open on January 1, 2024 and close on March 31, 2025.

Step 3:  Application review

The Financial Assistance Committee will review completed applications for students who are enrolled at Bishop Kenny in April 2024.

Step 4: Award notifications

Award letters will be mailed in May 2024.

House Bill 1 was signed on Monday, March 27, 2023, expanding school choice options in Florida.

• Florida Tax Credit Scholarship and Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options expands eligibility for all K-12 students, regardless of household income.
• For families who will use the scholarship for full-time private school tuition and fees, parents/guardians must agree to have their Scholarship Funding Organization, or “SFO,” commit scholarship funds on behalf of their students.

Should I apply for financial aid?
BK does not set any income guidelines or have restrictions on who may apply for financial aid. If you feel your family should receive financial aid, it is to your benefit to apply. All students are eligible to apply for tuition assistance through FACTS Grant & Aid. Awards are based on a family's finances, number of dependents, the overall need of the applicant pool, and our school-based tuition assistance budget.

When does the financial aid application open and close?
The financial aid application opens on January 1, 2024, and the deadline to apply is March 31, 2024.

How does the financial aid application process work?
You may apply for tuition assistance by visiting FACTS Grant & Aid.  It would be helpful to have your previous year's tax returns and W-2 forms to expedite the application process. To be considered for tuition assistance, your online application must be submitted with the required documentation and application fee paid, AND you must have already applied for assistance through scholarships provided by the state. All families must apply for financial assistance each academic year.

Does Bishop Kenny offer academic or athletic scholarships?
No, Bishop Kenny does not offer athletic or academic scholarships.

What scholarships does Bishop Kenny accept? 
Bishop Kenny accepts the FTC, FES-EO, and FES-UA scholarships. To apply for any of these scholarships, please visit Step Up For Students.

When applying for financial aid, what happens if my parents are separated or divorced?
In the matter of divorce or separation, the Financial Aid Committee will consider the assets of both natural parents, before making any decision. All parents and guardians must complete the grant and aid application on FACTS. The information provided will be kept in strictest confidence. It is the responsibility of the custodial parent to ask the non-custodial parent to complete this form. If either parent has remarried, the assets of the stepparent, even if they are not helping to pay for your education, will be considered.

What will my award look like?
Each award is individualized, based upon the financial need of each applicant. Award letters will be mailed in mid-May for completed applications of enrolled students.

Can I appeal my award amount?
If you have extenuating circumstances that you would like us to consider, you can email an appeal request letter explaining circumstances in detail and any supporting documents to Jackie Solis .
