The BK Alumni Business Network connects, supports, and celebrates Bishop Kenny graduates who own, lead, or work in businesses across Jacksonville and beyond. With more than 17,500 BK alumni—and more than 10,000 in the Jacksonville area—this network is a way to support fellow Crusaders, build professional connections, and keep the BK spirit alive in the marketplace.

PURPOSE

The Alumni Business Network was created to showcase and support businesses owned by Bishop Kenny alumni while strengthening connections across the BK alumni business community.

Through this initiative, we seek to:

Showcase alumni-owned businesses
Foster networking and collaboration among alumni
Provide new opportunities for alumni engagement
Create a trusted resource for the BK community to support alumni businesses
Develop mentorship, shadowing, and internship opportunities for current students

The network is designed to grow as a sustainable platform that highlights alumni success and builds a strong, connected professional community.

As part of the launch of the Alumni Business Network, alumni Mariana Alvarez Kallivayalil ’98 and Shawn Kallivayalil ’97 share a special message about the power of connection, the impact of the BK community, and the opportunities this network can create for alumni and students alike.

Mariana and Shawn first met at Bishop Kenny in Mrs. Herbert’s Spanish 2 Honors class and remain actively connected to the BK community as alumni, business leaders, and parents.

Mariana Alvarez Kallivayalil ’98 is a Wake Forest University graduate and co-owner of The Beehive Foundry. She brings extensive experience in marketing, communications, photography, and brand storytelling, with work spanning Mayo Clinic, Bon Appétit, Disneyland Paris, Birks & Mayors, and the University of Miami. The Beehive Foundry is a boutique marketing consulting firm whose work with schools and community organizations over nearly 10 years includes working closely with Bishop Kenny and other diocesan schools.

Shawn Kallivayalil ’97 graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami in biomedical engineering and holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Over more than 25 years, he built an accomplished career in research and development primarily for Johnson & Johnson across cardiac, vision, and neurovascular innovation. He was the Chief Technical Officer of multiple businesses within J&J before recently launching his own medical device company.

Together, they reflect on the enduring strength of the Bishop Kenny community and the role this network can play in supporting alumni and future generations of Crusaders.
