Francis Soereh, 17, a senior at Bishop Kenny High School, was named March Student of the Month. He was nominated for Respect, Dependability, and Citizenship by the Student Government Association and the Student Council class officers. His parents are originally from Burma but immigrated with Francis to the United States from Thailand when he was in the fourth grade. He currently speaks three languages: English, Thai, and Karenni.
Francis is a dedicated BK student and is actively involved in many after school activities. He is an officer in NJROTC, participates in Crusader Vision, Track and Field and the Medical Club, and he is a Bishop Kenny Student Ambassador. Soereh also works three afternoons a week at Christ the King Catholic School helping with their after school program. Francis is thankful for his opportunity to live in the United States and said that, “America is a beautiful country with so many opportunities for education, advanced technology and great food!” and “they accepted my family and it has now become our home forever.”
