Jacksonville Symphony at BK

Bishop Kenny High School played host to one of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s Mayo Clinic Community Concerts on Saturday, May 27.   An estimated 400 guests attended the Symphony’s Patriotic Pops!  The free performance, which was held in the Carla Harris Performing Arts Center, was enthusiastically received by all in attendance.

Ileana Fernandez, a graduate of the BK Class of 1971 and principal pianist of the Jacksonville Symphony, was among the 55 musicians that performed under the direction of Nathan Aspinall, the 25-year-old assistant conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony.  Aspinall led the musicians in a program of all- American pieces with an emphasis on patriotic music including The Star Spangled Banner, 76 Trombones, Stars and Stripes Forever, and more.

We thank the Jacksonville Symphony for this wonderful opportunity and look forward to hosting these fine musicians in the future.
