Five Bishop Kenny students are among the elite group of winners in this year Scholastic Art and Writing Contest sponsored by the Northeast Florida Art Education Association. More than 2,800 entries were submitted, making it the largest number of submissions ever entered to date in this contest.
Winners include Veronica Selden (multiple Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and Honorable Mentions), Isabella Chrisphonte (Silver Key), Marisa Garcia (Honorable Mention), Nara-Lee Todd ( 2 Honorable Mentions), and Vivian Tran (2 Honorable Mentions).
Art Teacher Lauren Doran will accompany her students to the Awards and Exhibition Openings to be held at the Florida Theatre and the Heather Moore Community Gallery on February 3.
Senior Veronica Selden earned a Gold Key not only for five of her drawings and illustrations but also for her entire portfolio. This is a tremendous accomplishment. Her work is currently being reviewed at the national level. The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers will announce the national medal award winners on Tuesday, March 13. Good luck, Veronica!
The NEFSAA Ceremony will begin at 10 AM at the historic Florida Theatre (128 E. Forsyth Street, 32202). The ceremony will be followed by the Award Exhibition openings from 1 - 3 PM at the Jacksonville Main Branch Library (303 North Laura Street; 32202) where individual Gold Key work will be on display, with Silver Key and Honorable Mention works on digital display, and the Heather Moore Community Gallery at the Cathedral Arts Project, Inc. Offices (207 North Laura Street, Ste. 300; 32202) where the Gold and Silver Key portfolios will be on exhibition.
