BK Freshman Named FCN Student of the Week

Congratulations to Bishop Kenny High School freshman Winston Peele for being selected as the Channel 12 Student of the Week.  Katie Jefferies, Channel 12 news reporter, visited BK to film Winston in class and interview him for a news segment to be aired on January 11.

Winston is a dedicated student who is actively involved in after-school activities both at Bishop Kenny and in the Jacksonville community. Winston has worked with his Mother, Ju’Coby Pittman CEO of the Clare White Mission, on mission related events.  He is the founder and President of White Harvest Farms, a sustainable farm located on the Northside of Jacksonville. The project, an initiative for the Clare White Mission, is designed to offer fresh, healthy produce to an underserved community.

Winston and a friend co-founded the Young Leaders of Today in 2017 and they currently have 35 members.  Their goal is to get high school students and young adults involved in civic matters.  They want to increase dialogue on topics that directly impact the Jacksonville community and try to bring about positive solutions for hard to solve problems.

Winston, a 9th grade student at BK, maintains a rigorous academic schedule and is also President of the Freshman Class.  He truly believes in service and has accumulated over 120 community service hours already this year.  He is in the NJROTC Program at BK and would like to continue in ROTC  through college. His long-range plans include joining the Navy and eventually enrolling in medical school.  We celebrate this ambitious young man whose future looks very bright.
