Summer Reading 2019-2020

Each year two departments will present a list of books from which students may choose.  This year, English and Mathematics are offering the book options. Students must read TWO books, one book from the English list AND one from the Mathematics list.  During a designated FLEX mod at the start of school, students will take a multiple choice test on the two books they have read. The scores on each book test will be averaged and recorded as a test grade in English for the first quarter.  The tests will cover basic plot information; students will not be asked to interpret/analyze theme, symbol, or structure. In preparation for the tests, we suggest that students take notes as they read, keeping track of characters, plot, and setting for each book that tells a story and/or keeping track of main ideas that flow through non-fiction selections.  These notes are for personal use only; they will not be collected.
