Quill and Scroll is an international honor society for high school journalists. Individual members and school media groups are encouraged to participate in international contests sponsored by the society. Meetings: As needed, annual induction ceremony mandatory.
Qualifications: Candidates for initiation must be of junior or senior qualification to be active members.Second semester sophomores may be initiated at the end of their sophomore year, membership becoming effective at the beginning of their junior year. Student members must be in the top third of their class academically, or have the equivalent of a B average for the cumulative total of all of their high school work; they must have done superior work in some phase of journalism or school publications – writing, editing, broadcasting, video, etc.; they must be recommended by the publication advisor or the publication governing committee. In addition, every new candidate must pay a one-time initiation fee. The fee entitles the new member to a pin, a membership card, and a one-year subscription to Quill and Scroll magazine.
Enrollment: Invitations are issued during the 3rd quarter, followed by a mandatory induction.
