National English Honor Society
The purpose of this honor society is to confer distinction upon secondary school students for high achievement in English coursework, to provide cultural stimulation in secondary school environments, to encourage interest in the English language arts, to promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members, and to serve society by fostering literacy.
Meetings: Once per semester.
Qualifications: Juniors and seniors who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5, are enrolled in either AP or Honors English, and hold in Q3 a year-to-date average of 90% in 11th or 12th grade English course.
Expectations: Participate in the yearly philanthropic project and remain committed to excellence in English coursework, with no Honor Code Violations.
Enrollment Deadline: Invitations are issued during the third quarter, followed by an induction ceremony.
Leadership Opportunities: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Executive board members must be seniors and except for the Treasurer, they are elected by BK NEHS members and English Department faculty members.
