National English Honor Society

The National English Honor Society confers distinction upon students for high achievement in English coursework, in order to provide cultural stimulation in secondary school environments, to encourage interest in the English language arts, to promote exemplary character and good fellowship among its members, and to serve society by fostering literacy.


Meetings: Two per semester
Qualifications: Juniors and seniors who have completed at least three semesters in English with an 84+ average and be presently enrolled in at least one Honors/AP English course while maintaining a 90+ average in Honors or 84+ average in AP English.
Expectations: Strive to earn a minimum of 5 service hours per semester in staffing the Bishop Kenny Writing Lab (Tuesdays 2:45-3:30) and participate in all fundraising and service projects.
Enrollment Deadline: Invitations are issued during the third quarter, followed by an induction ceremony.
Leadership Opportunities: President, Vice President, and Secretary (executive board positions are open only to seniors).
